For this project, I am designing a website for my client who is a not-for-profit organisation. The aim of the website was to encourage its users to engage with the services that organisation provides. The client wanted to convey a feeling of openness and personal connection between the website and its users. They wanted to portray themselves in a light-hearted manner but still retain the seriousness of the organisation. The trickiness of this design was to facilitate that personal relationship between the organisation and the user.

What did I learn?

Designing this webpage showed me the importance of imagery and its effect on the overall design. Each image should be carefully selected to reflect the tone and mood the website wishes to convey. I also learnt about the need for consistency between fonts and line heights. I learnt that line heights make the text on the website more readable and easier for the user. I also learnt about text placement and the importance of consistency between their alignment. I understood the significance to incorporate brand motifs in order to reiterate brand message and promote cohesiveness across the whole page.
